Yarn bombing – graffiti or art?

Have you heard of ‘yarn bombing’? It’s when people knit or crochet coverings for a tree (or other public object). Some people call it ‘yarn storming’, ‘guerrilla knitting’ or ‘urban knitting’. Is it street art? Is it graffiti? Perhaps it’s both. It’s usually non-destructive, so all good, right? What do you think.
Whatever it is, it’s really amazing, colourful and (I think) beautiful!
This example of yarn bombing is in Hobsonville Point, Auckland.
