Finding clues to your purpose in your childhood dreams

I had a memory today that took me way back to my younger years – those days spent in a tiny bedroom, dreaming big. As a kid, I tried to set up an “art studio” in that small space, with a little book in hand that taught me about creating a studio environment. Even then, I had a passion for art and creating a workspace, and looking back, I realise that passion has never left me.

Fast forward to today, and I'm still setting up my studio (this time for real!), fine-tuning it to be a place of creativity and inspiration. It’s incredible to see how the seeds of purpose are planted in us early on, often showing up in ways we might forget until something stirs that memory.

In my book, “Purpose Made: 12 steps to discovering your God-given purpose and living an abundant life”, I talk about how our purpose is woven into us from the start, with clues that go all the way back to childhood. Living in that purpose is freeing; it's about embracing who you were meant to be.

If you’re on a journey to find your purpose, I encourage you to dive in and look at what you’ve loved all along – you’ll find the answers are already there.

After I posted this video, I made a discovery…

Oh my goodness, talk about a formative find! If you've just heard my latest video, I mentioned a book that I had as a child that deeply inspired me at the time. In the back of my mind I remembered that I kept that book in storage. I’ve just dug through my boxes and voila - here it is!

It’s called ‘Painting & Drawing’ a Whizz Kids book by Linda Douglas, illustrated by Moira Chester, ©1980.

You’ll see my maiden name there (Sarah Rose), and my phone number (in the days when we had six-digits). ‘An artist’s studio’ page is the one I referred to in the video. The other page that I remember, distinctly, is the ‘Drawing equipment’ page. I see my handwritten note note that an * meant something I “haven’t got”. How funny is that!

The book meant so much to me that I’ve kept it for over 40 years! Linda Douglas - if you are still around and ever see this, THANK YOU!!!
