Art of the Ordinary: Finding beauty in the old and rusty

Writer's picture: Sarah RitchieSarah Ritchie

I’m drawn to uncovering the hidden details, patterns, and colours in everyday objects – things we often overlook or take for granted.

These photos – of corrugated iron sheets, wire, and an old, rusty rake – were taken at Jeff Thomson’s workshop/studio in Helensville, New Zealand. Jeff is an immensely talented artist making sculptures and structures out of corrugated iron. jeffthomson.co.nz

This photographic series reflects my perspective on life, where beauty is found in the mundane, and the ordinary becomes art.

Art of the Ordinary invites you to see the world through a different lens (my lens) – the everyday, reimagined.
