Danxia landform

Can you believe this photo is for real? Don’t believe me? Just try doing a Google Images search for “Danxia landform”. See? Told you! I think I have just found something else to add to my “must sees” in life.

This particular example of the Danxia landform is located in Zhangye, Province of Gansu in China, and is similar to other examples in the southeast and southwest of China…some have even been given World Heritage Site status!

The colour is the result of an accumulation of millions of years of red sandstone and other rocks. Wow!

Absolutely, Leona! I had the pleasure to visit Petra (Jordan) a few years ago. Apart from the man-made monolith wonders that are carved into the rocks, the natural beauty of the area is breathtaking. Called the “Rose City”, the rock is predominantly red in colour, but there are 15 different types of rocks…all different colours. Layer upon strata layer of delicious colour. Petra was listed as one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. I can see why. It’s a privilege to be able to witness natural beauty in that magnitude…but it’s our challenge to be able to witness the natural beauty that we have all around us…we just have to dig a bit harder beneath the suburban jungles that we find ourselves living in!

  3. Fantastic site. Lots of helpful info here.
I’m sending it to several buddies ans additionally sharing in delicious. And obviously, thank you to your sweat!
