One thing that I love is when people can look past what is and see what could be. In the world of fashion, that idea could translate into making garments out of found objects (e.g. rubbish), the catwalk creations of the World of Wearable Art or even this brainwave for New Zealand Fashion Week 2011…toilet paper dresses.
Young New Zealand designers have been given the opportunity to strut their extremely delicate Kleenex Cottonelle (toilet paper) creations on the runway. By the looks of the offering, above, the results are a fair-sized chunk better than what you would see after a 30 minute party game (hilarious results though)!
Imagine if your CV read: “My breakthrough piece was a toilet paper dress for New Zealand Fashion Week…please hire me!” Well, we all have to start somewhere. Pretty, impressive, and extremely practical!
