tiramisu

Sometimes I think I should start a new section titled “the beauty of food”! This gorgeous combination of pattern, colour and texture was my friend’s delicious tiramisu dessert. As soon as she placed the large glass bowl on the table we all ooo’d and wow’d, and I quickly told folks they couldn’t eat it until I had taken a photo (BTW, standing in between hungry guests and an incredible looking dessert is not a recommended way to treat your friends!).

What was it about this dessert that made us all stop and stare and put our weight loss programmes on hold? The colours were AMAZING (this photo just doesn’t do the presentation justice). The colour palette of cream, red/pink and brown/gold was beckoning, and the patterns created by the combination of ingredients looked just like an edible abstract.

It is not difficult to understand why the work of some chefs is called “a masterpiece” or “culinary delight”. The presentation of this tiramisu was like a gift to three of our senses. Mmmmmm…
