Galatea Jewellery Diamond in the Pearl

Galatea pendantHave you heard about the latest idea to shake up the pearl industry? It’s called Galatea and it is coming soon to New Zealand!

Part science, part jewellery art, the “inventor”/jeweller – Chi Galatea Huynh – has cultured the world’s first pearls using gemstones instead of mother-of-pearl nucleuses!

Once fully formed, the pearl is then masterfully carved to reveal the diamond or gemstone inside. Check out this YouTube clip [click here] to watch a 10 min video about how the Galatea pearls are created and how the pearl design (at the right) was carved.

Huynh is taking jewellery art to a whole new level…very beautiful and unique…and – yes – expensive!
