Israel is a land with a 6,000-year old history. Visiting from a young country – such as New Zealand (with a 700-year old history) – Israel is a wonder to behold.
20km south of the Sea of Galilee (one of my favourite places) is “Belvoir” (French for “beautiful view”). Belvoir is a Crusader fortress – built in 1168 – on a hill 500m above the fertile Jordan Valley.
I can just imagine the Crusaders of the time. They ascend the hill, pick the spot to pitch their stone fortress, and then gaze around in awe. I bet there was no contest to name their patch. I can imagine someone just exclaimed “Incroyable! C’est une belle vue!“…and everyone agreed.
How we do all so enjoy the visual banquet of a beautiful view, don’t we? Tres inspirational!
