never buy prints…

I am no collector of art. It’s not because I wouldn’t like to be, but because we have moved around a LOT. At times we have had to downsize extraneous possessions (such as paintings), especially when we moved overseas. We used to have some lovely pieces.

My half-brother is quite an art aficionado and he selects his artwork carefully, rather than “collecting” it per se.

I distinctly remember his advice to me, when I was young. He urged me to always invest in original artwork – never prints (unless they were limited editions). It was a strong statement, possibly bordering on snobbery. Agree with it, or not, I can hear validity in his words.

Funny thing is that I have always – subconsciously – followed his advice. You won’t find a single print in our house!
